Origami Sundays (8-18 yrs)

Workshops will be held on May 19, May 22 and June 2, 2024

In the course of this workshop, the children will learn:

• About the amazing art of Origami
• Various types of Origami and its relevance in the modern world
• How Origami intersects with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, fostering an appreciation for the fusion of art and science.
• How folding paper requires spatial reasoning, logical sequencing, and adaptability, all of which are valuable skills applicable beyond the realm of paper folding.
• About the therapeutic benefits of Origami, including stress reduction, mindfulness, and relaxation. Discuss how engaging in the repetitive, meditative process of folding can promote emotional well-being and mental clarity.
• Basic, moderate and advanced Origami models befitting their age

Note: The children will be provided with the paper required for the Origrami models

Workshop conducted by Kolkata Origami Center

The Kolkata Origami Center was inaugurated in November 2012 by Sensei Kazuo Kobayashi, who served as the President of the International Origami Center in Tokyo. At the centre, the focus isn't solely on crafting origami masters but rather on fostering a community centred around the joy and creativity of paper folding. It serves as a gathering place for origami enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds, who convene monthly to immerse themselves in the art of folding.
